Blooming Grace

Acrylic on canvas

Artist Statement for “Blooming Grace”

Inspired by the tranquil ponds of my childhood and the symbolism of the lotus, this painting reflects my connection to nature’s quiet wisdom. The blooming lotuses, rising through still waters and dew-touched leaves, remind me of resilience and beauty even in the most serene moments. Through this work, I honor the peace, strength, and renewal that nature gently offers us.

Skyline Bloom

This painting reflects the quiet harmony between nature and city life in New York. Bold buildings rise against a vivid sky, while wildflowers bloom freely in the foreground. Through contrast and color, the painting celebrates resilience of both the city and the nature that surrounds it.

There’s a quiet ritual in preparing my own canvases—measuring the wood, stretching the fabric, applying the size and the gesso with care. It’s a meditative process, one that roots me in the work before a single mark is made. I’ve been making cotton canvases for some time now, appreciating their softness and familiarity. Recently, I made my first linen canvases—drawn to their refined texture, resilience, and the quiet elegance they seem to carry even before the painting begins. Linen feels different: more deliberate, more enduring. The act of crafting these surfaces by hand brings a sense of intention and intimacy to each piece. For me, the canvas isn’t just a support—it’s where the story truly begins.

Whispers in Color and Green

“Whispers in Color and Green” is a tribute to the quiet rituals of renewal—gathering flowers in woven baskets, a gesture passed through generations. The green leaves speak of resilience, while each bloom carries the joy of fleeting beauty. Rooted in memory and shaped by the rhythms of nature, this piece honors the emotional landscapes we inherit and the soft power of seasonal beginnings.

The Poetry of Clutter

“The Poetry of Clutter” celebrates the overlooked beauty of everyday life—an assemblage of objects that seem ordinary on their own but, together, form a rich visual tapestry. Through bold colors, layered textures, and intersecting forms, this piece invites viewers to find harmony in the mess, light in the mundane, and meaning in the unarranged. Each element holds a memory, a purpose, or a forgotten story—woven into the fabric of a scene that is at once chaotic and comfortingly familiar.

Gateway to Majuli

Oil on canvas

36 inches by 24

This painting is a tribute to my childhood near Majuli, nestled in the gentle embrace of the Brahmaputra River. Growing up surrounded by its calm waters, whispering trees, and golden light, I carry these moments not just in memory, but in every brushstroke. The river Brahmaputra is my way of preserving a place that shaped me—its rhythms, its silences, and the deep sense of belonging it gave me. This is not just a landscape; it is home, remembered through the lens of nostalgia and painted with love.
